I have a love-hate relationship with buying presents for all of the youngsters in my life. So when I find a line of wonderful toys I am awfully excited. I like giving the youngsters presents, but I do not like shopping. That is how I feel about hand made wood toys. You see the toys never look to go out of style, so much so that these toys made from wood will be passed along to their youngsters and their children's youngsters.
So why then, now that we own all kinds of materials and technologies, do we still use and have natural wood toys?
There's not a single answer to this, let me explain. So long as they're treated well these toys will become heirlooms and not all is lost either if they get damaged, as parts can be made for them again. It is not like breaking a plastic toy means having to throw it directly into the bin because it cannot be fixed.
Apart form all of the fantastic reasons above there are a pair advantages of wood toys I would like to make. Kids have a tendency to revisit toys from their baby years like wooden blocks, maracas and push along or ride on toys, finding new and creative paths to play, so these can be excellent presents for the small ones and still be pleasurable years after.
Seeing a four years old play inventively with a toy made from wood acquired when they were eighteen months old can be particularly gratifying. My last words on why you should purchase toys made from wood: They're hard wearing and sturdy so will last the years in good shape.
